Don't stunt yourself?

Lesson learned....stop waiting or thinking that a photo has to be within a certain theme or context. Capture what you see as beauty and go with it. The rest will follow and growth will ensue!

Aren't photographers full of inspiration????

Well, here I am trying to find the inspiration that got me to start this blog. Emily, are you out there?? :) Life has got in the way and I've put my camera down thinking when life settled I'd pick it up again but guess what??? I haven't. It's collecting dust! How creative is that??!!! I thought photographers must live in a rose-coloured world with a shutter button and captured "inspiration" wherever they went. Maybe they do.....or maybe I am just like all of them too and struggling to tap into that creativity and that moment or vision that takes my breath away and makes me want to put the effort, the time, the lighting into the perfect photograph. Well the "itch" is back! I'm ready to start exploring again! What a better time to renew my love than the transition into autumn! The colour!!! What magnificence! Stay tuned to see if I can capture some of that early inspiration that got me going........

What do you think of when you think of Maine?

My husband and I just got back from a little vacation in Maine. We stayed on the coast and it was glorious! I was very excited to go because I was looking for inspiration but found myself stumped. What do you think of when you think of picturesque Maine? Do you think of water? Trees? Rocks? Nature? I do. But....what I found to inspire me was much different. Yes, nature had it's place as it always does and forever will in my heart and in my photos but can you see the beauty in the rusty old buoys? What about the long forsaken watch tower? I love that anything can speak to you and if you just allow that to happen, it will.

Shades of grey?????

I cannot believe how impossibly hard my assignment is!!! Remember when you were in school and you asked the teacher....do I really need to know this and is this really going to help me???? Well I'm there again!! Who would have thought it?? Taking pictures is so easy, right??? Wrong!! Did you know there were things like light meters to learn and white balance and the Zone...and I'm not referring to the celebrity diet!! Everything comes down to shades of grey........(sigh) Talk about tapping out the creativity on this one! ;)

Little editing....

FYI....most of my photos have very little editing done to them. I keep them as simple as possible right now and try to do as much work with the camera....not saying I won't edit or haven't edited or won't edit every one....but right now I'm keeping it simple for where I'm at!

Intro

Thank you to my facebook friend Emily....I made my own blog page!! Wow! I impress myself!! For those who don't know, I have had a very long time interest in learning how to take pictures since I was a little girl. I used to use Mom's old rectangular camera that had the pop up flash....what was that called anyway??? I have now progressed to the ripe age of 31 and own my very own digital SLR. I am currently off of work due to health reasons so I have taken this time to learn how to tap into that creativity again. I am studying a photography course online! Wow...it's not easy!!! I hope to complete it by the Fall but in the meantime, I am snapping pictures and posting them for you to look at and follow my progress. Some are from just my point and shoot and some are from learning my SLR. I hope you find something you like as I learn and grow!
